Dental Implants Restore Your Smile

Are you considering getting dental implants to improve or restore your smile?

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is surgically inserted into the jawbone. Teeth implants are used to hold a prosthetic tooth in place. Implants function in a similar way to a natural tooth root. The results are artificial teeth that look, feel, and function just like natural teeth.

There are many reasons you may want to consider implants.  Perhaps you had an accident which caused you to lose one or more of your teeth. Or, you may have a medical condition that can cause tooth loss such as diabetes, arthritis, gum disease, and osteoporosis. Tooth loss can cause low self esteem which dental implants can restore.

In order to be a good candidate for a conventional implant, you need strong, healthy gums and a jawbone that is capable of supporting the new root. You should be in good general and oral health with healthy gum tissue free of periodontal disease.

For patients that who can’t have conventional implants, an alternative would be short implants.  These are similar in structure to their larger counterparts.  Short implants need less bone to hold them in place. Short implants are a permanent replacement option and advantages would be shorter healing time less surgical time and less cost than traditional dental implants.

There are pros and cons to each option as far as risks and complications, which will be discussed with your Oral Surgeon.

Be sure to choose an oral surgeon like David Miller DDS in Commack, NY who is well experienced and equipped with an abundance of training in the discipline. To schedule a consultation call 631 499-7266
