Say yes to chocolate for Halloween treats
Time is of the essence when it comes to teeth and sugar, so not all candy is equal.
Chewy treats and hard candy are particularly damaging because they spend a prolonged amount of time stuck to teeth and are more difficult for teeth to break down. Hard candies tend to be the most acidic – especially the sour ones, if they are made with citric acid, such as lemon-flavored candy, they are one of the worst offenders for dissolving enamel. Better news for sweets like chocolate that quickly dissolve in the mouth and lessen the amount of time sugar stays in contact with teeth.
