Your dentist can tell if you are stressed out

Did you know that stress can affect your mouth, teeth, gums and jaw?

More and more signs of stress are showing up in the dentist’s office. During routine dental examinations and cleanings, dentists are able to detect oral symptoms of stress, including orofacial pain, bruxism (teeth grinding), temporomandibular disorders (TMD), mouth sores and gum disease.
Some symptoms to look for would be tips of the teeth that appear flat,
tooth sensitivity, jaw joint pain/popping and clicking of the jaw, or mouth sores.
